Northern New Mexico Bike Adventures - Angel Fire & Northside Taos Ski Valley

Northern New Mexico Bike Adventures - Angel Fire & Northside Taos Ski Valley

There are still some places in the United States where you can easily access complete remoteness and isolation in the outdoors. Northern New Mexico is one of those few remaining places. This is how I personally reach 100% serenity and solitude. The mountain biking scene in this area is definitely much more under the radar compared to places like Colorado, B.C., or California. That's why we had to make a trip to the Land of Enchantment to explore Northside at Taos Ski Valley as well as Angel Fire for its legendary untamed downhill trail system. The people and food are both incredible in this region of the country, but the biking is something that makes it worth driving hours or maybe even days for. We were in the backcountry of Taos Ski Valley all day Saturday and say nobody. What?? That doesn't happen anymore. Here is a look at our 72 hour adventure.

Show Me Love - Pride 2017

Show Me Love - Pride 2017

You all know I'm a flamboyant and colorful character, so of course I absolutely love the vibrancy and openness that Denver Pride brings out every year. So this year I pulled in my creative counterpart, Kayte Demont of Mass Musings, and we hit the streets to talk with all kinds of people about how they show love in their own way. Needless to say, we got some GREAT responses.

Urban Creators - Original Creatives from the RiNo District

Urban Creators - Original Creatives from the RiNo District

If you've been in Denver for more than a few days, it's likely you've been to or have heard of the RiNo Arts District. It's unquestionably one of the hottest neighborhoods in all of Denver at the moment. Creative things seem to be happening in every corner. Pretty cool right? Yes, but...let's not forget the people who helped build this creative mecca into what its become today. There are individuals that have put years and years of sweat into helping add the personality and flavor of this neighborhood that's made it so fresh and original. That's why I went into MegaFauna, one of the neighborhood's original art and urban apparel shops to talk with the owner and curator of culture, John MC. A few local artists came through and I talked with the dudes behind one of the hottest podcasts right now, This Life Is Dope.

Live Stream Marching Band in the Denver Streets

Live Stream Marching Band in the Denver Streets

This year I hosted the Spruce 2 year anniversary party at the Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado. The Spruce team asked me to come up with some creative ways to spice up the event and pull in more of the Denver creative community. If there is one thing I know that always pulls the community together, it's local music. So I linked up with Badda Boom Brass Band (a New Orleans style marching band) to help kick off the evening. We thought it would be a great idea to live stream me leading the marching band into the theater while they play their party-style jazz in the streets on our walk to the theater. So that's exactly what we did. We got people on the streets engaged and at the same time, the audience in the theater could watch the entire thing go down as we brought the street party to the anniversary party! What a fun way to kick off the evening and another fantastic collaboration with the team at Spruce. Here is that live video we created to kick off the event!

FRUITA FAT TIRE FESTIVAL

FRUITA FAT TIRE FESTIVAL

Fruita Fat Tire Festival was radical. This homegrown event celebrates the LOVE for badass mountain biking and the passionate community behind it! Fruita is a wild little Colorado town and is definitely underrated when it comes to mountain biking hot spots. It is easily one of the best spots to shred dirt in the country and has hundreds if not thousands of miles of trails right in its backyard. Moab usually gets the attention, but these guys deserve it more. Every year they have an event that brings together some of the best bike brands for people to demo, amazing beer, funky music, and all walks of people excited to be living life! This year we worked with the City of Fruita to highlight this authentically unique community and showcase the deep love for mountain biking that consumes the area.

WELCOME TO NEW MEXICO

WELCOME TO NEW MEXICO

This week our adventures take us to the land of green chile, ancient cities, and a vibrant art culture unlike anywhere else. This is the land of enchantment...New Mexico. This entire state is definitely underrated, as the food and beer alone make any visit worthwhile.  As popular places, such as Denver, become more and more crowded, tucked-away enclaves of culture and outdoor opportunities become more desirable. Many of these adventures require some digging and exploring, but that's make what it so special. The southwestern outdoor and cultural adventures are in abundance all throughout Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. One of my favorites was Meow Wolf, which is a weird interactive art experience out-of-this world. Game of Thrones creator, George R.R. Martin, created this strange exhibit and there is talk of bringing it to Denver. Albuquerque, New Mexico was good to us and I'm sure it would be good to you too!

Can I Get YOUR Mom's Number?

Can I Get YOUR Mom's Number?

This week's video is all about the MOMS! We ask people on the street if we can get their mom's number...that is to call their mom and wish them a Happy Mother's Day! Obviously, we got some interesting reactions, but at the end of the day, the people were stoked to spread the mom love ! The only one that didn't was the Denver Police officer. I guess the Denver Police don't like moms. Mom's of the world we love you!!! ❤️ Shout out Connor Tieulie for helping shoot this piece.
